Arlington, Va. – Oct. 27, 2015 – RxAnte, LLC, the leading platform for improving medication use and drug therapy outcomes through predictive analytics and targeted clinical programs, today announced The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy® (AMCP) selected an RxAnte abstract as one of 25 gold medal winners at its annual fall conference, AMCP Nexus, in Orlando, Florida at the Gaylord Palms Hotel & Convention Center.
Titled “Prevalence and Cost of Unsafe Opioid Use in a Medicare Advantage Population,” the poster is co-authored by RxAnte team members Joshua S. Benner, Tori E. Erxleben, Laurie Hamilton, Amie T. Joyce, Sharon Kautz, Aaron N. McKethan, and Michael S. Ross. The poster concludes there is a significant opportunity to improve patient safety by intervening early to prevent unsafe opioid use from happening. Methods, such as RxAnte’s Risk of Unsafe Use Score™ need to be deployed to identify high-risk patients earlier in therapy, before they manifest in the CMS overutilization criteria and incur high costs of treatment.
Medal winners were chosen from hundreds of abstracts accepted for presentation at the conference. Each abstract was assessed by reviewers using a 1-5 scale on the following five criteria: relevance, originality, quality, bias, and clarity. These are the same criteria used by JMCP to evaluate manuscripts. The abstract’s mean score on the five criteria was used to award Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals.
Dr. Erxleben will present the award-winning poster at AMCP Nexus on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. All abstracts selected for presentation at the conference are included in a supplement to the JMCP.
