M. Alan Brookhart, PhD, Chair

Dr. Alan Brookhart serves as principal statistical consultant to RxAnte and chairs its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Brookhart is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health, in Chapel Hill. He was previously Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and Director of Research Methods, Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. His research focuses on the development of epidemiological and statistical methods to study patterns of use of prescription medications and associated health outcomes. Dr. Brookhart has authored over 100 scientific papers on medication adherence, comparative effectiveness research, and statistical/epidemiologic methodology. Dr. Brookhart received his Doctor of Philosophy in Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley.

U.S. "Mickey" Gill, BSEE, JD

Mr. Gill is a Partner at Nixon & Vanderhye, P.C., a law firm specializing in intellectual property. Mr. Gill concentrates his practice on complex patent litigation and prosecution, bringing his training as an engineer and extensive industry experience to bear on complex technical issues faced by his clients. Mr. Gill has extensive experience in all aspects of patent and trademark prosecution and litigation, including practicing before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Gill is admitted to the Virginia Bar, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Supreme Court of Virginia, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His professional affiliations include the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the American Bar Association. He received his BSEE (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) with honors, and his JD with distinction, from George Mason University.

Jan Berger, MD

Dr. Jan Berger is President and CEO of Health Intelligence Partners, a health care consultancy focused on business strategies and solutions in order to maximize client outcomes. As former Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for CVS Caremark (1999-2008), Jan was a member of the executive team for the organization. Over a ten-year period this team led the organization through three mergers and acquisitions, which resulted in an $80 billion dollar, Fortune 20 healthcare organization with more than 190,000 employees throughout the United States. She was responsible for policy and strategy for all clinical aspects of the organization. Prior to coming to CVS Caremark, Jan had 15 years of experience in health care administration within the health plan and academic arenas. Dr. Berger holds both a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Jurisprudence degree from Loyola University in Chicago and a Certificate in Healthcare Business Administration from University of South Florida. She is also an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Evanston, Illinois.

L. Allen Dobson Jr., MD, FAAFP

Dr. Allen Dobson, a family medicine physician in North Carolina, currently serves as President and CEO of Community Care of North Carolina, Vice President of Clinical Practice Development at Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, NC, and Visiting Scholar at the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. Dr. Dobson has been actively involved in health policy on the state and national level for decades. He was an early leader and developer of the nationally recognized “Community Care of North Carolina” program, which received the 2007 Annie E. Casey award for Innovations in Government, presented by Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He has previously held the position of Assistant Secretary of Health for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services where he was responsible for the health divisions of the department as well as serving as the state Medicaid Director. Dr. Dobson holds a faculty appointment of Professor of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his undergraduate education at North Carolina State University, his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University, and he completed his residency in family medicine at East Carolina University.
