Mosaic Pharmacy Service is disrupting the idea of traditional pharmacy care. A regional health plan partnered with Mosaic to offer a comprehensive pharmacy intervention to this medically complex Medicare population with the goal of demonstrating improved medication use, clinical quality and downstream medical costs; our latest case study of this intervention shows promise in improving measures across these three areas.
To measure the impact Mosaic had on health spending, unplanned care events, and medication adherence, over a six month period, this study compares members who enrolled and received prescription services from Mosaic with matched members who were similarly eligible but filled elsewhere. Mosaic members experienced a reduction in medical spend, improved adherence on all three Medicare Star Ratings adherence measures and reduced unplanned care events at the end of the study period.
